One of the things that stood out to me on the ProGrad recruitment day was the fact that many CEOs start their career in sales. That’s where my goal is to end up one day, and my career path since graduating has been driven towards that goal. I’ve worked for the same organisation for 11 years since getting placed by ProGrad and been fortunate enough to learn and grow in various areas of the business. Here are my highlights from the last decade since graduating: First year in a quota carrying role I won APAC AE of the year outselling every other Account Executive in the region (~50 AEs). After three years as an individual contributor, I was promoted to lead the team I was in. In that first year of leadership, I won APAC Coach of the Year and outperformed any other manager globally (~70 managers), delivering 48% growth. While in that leadership role, I coached multiple people who were awarded ‘Rep of the Year’. Before the age of the 30 I was promoted to a Director role in the business. When we released new products to market, I was asked to lead the launch for the APAC region. APAC outsold all the other geos despite only representing 15% of our core business. I was then asked to lead our strategy and enablement for the APAC region which I did for a year to learn a new department of our business. Then lead our South APAC sales team for our Alternative Investments division, who won ‘APAC Team of the Year’ after outperforming all other teams delivering 43% growth. After returning from maternity leave, I was keen to try something new within the business and was offered multiple positions. I decided to take the role leading our global Client Success Strategy. In the role thus far, I have helped transition our Services team to a revenue generating division, driving cross referral business for new products and services and taking on / growing our renewals business which previously sat within Sales. These milestones reflect not just personal success, but a consistent drive to elevate those around me – whether through coaching award-winning talent, leading high-performing teams, or transforming business functions to unlock new value. I’ve always believed that leadership is about creating impact beyond your own role, and I’m proud of the ripple effect my journey has had across our organisation. As I continue to grow, my focus remains on building inclusive, high-performing teams and driving strategic outcomes – laying the foundation for the next chapter of my career, and ultimately the path to the CEO seat.
