With 20 years’ experience in the technology industry, including a decade in general management, Mathew has led businesses through every stage of growth; from start-ups and scale-ups to high-growth expansion and transformation. Since coming through ProGrad in 2006, Mathew’s career has been shaped by delivering results and building high-performing teams that thrive in ambitious, growth-driven environments. As Managing Director of Experian’s Software business in Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ), Mathew leads a team of more than 100 professionals delivering SaaS solutions that transform consumer financial experiences across the credit lifecycle. He holds full P&L responsibility for a portfolio of businesses spanning Decision Analytics, Fraud, and Identity. As a member of the SLT, he also played a role in the 820M acquisition of illion. In addition to commercial leadership, he has supported the Experian’s broader culture agenda as Regional Executive DEI Sponsor for APAC-EMEA, championing DEI to ensure the company’s culture reflects its values.
Mathew’s leadership philosophy—shaped by his background in both competitive sport and business—is built on developing high-performing teams, driving disciplined execution, and fostering environments where people feel valued, challenged, and connected. This approach underpinned the transformation of Experian’s Decision Analytics division into the largest revenue contributor in A/NZ and one of the fastest-growing globally. Under his leadership, the business achieved 29% CAGR over five years, delivered more than 23% YoY growth for four consecutive years, significantly improved profitability, transitioned to a cloud-first SaaS model, and earned world-class employee engagement alongside Great Place to Work recognition. Prior to Experian, Mathew played a pivotal role in GBG’s expansion across Asia Pacific. As the company’s first regional employee, he built the business in Australia from the ground up, scaling the team from one to more than 100 within six years while delivering consistent double-digit growth. He also spearheaded the strategic acquisition of VIX Verify (GreenID), strengthening GBG’s ANZ footprint and product capabilities. During his time with GBG, he also helped drive new market entry across Southeast Asia and China, through another acquisition that accelerated growth and established a strong regional presence.
Beyond his corporate achievements, Mathew has made substantial contributions to the wider community. He served for over six years on the University of Sydney’s Alumni Council, including a term as Deputy President, and held positions on the Industry Advisory Board for the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences as well as the Board of the Sydney University Football Club. He also founded the Quills and Boots Association, a Sydney University Sport Alumni Network designed to connect students with alumni mentors, supporting career readiness, professional development, and a smoother transition into the workforce. He has been an active mentor and guest lecturer at the University of Sydney Business School, sharing his insights on leadership, strategy, and culture with emerging business leaders. Throughout his career, Mathew has balanced commercial success with cultural leadership and community contribution. His impact is reflected not only in financial results, but in the sustainable, high-performance organisations he has built that empower people to achieve more than they thought possible.
