Funnily enough I can trace my entrepreneurial journey back to the interview that Prograd set up for me on the 24 January 2011. I was sent to a company called 'Sense of Security' (This later became part of CyberCX) which was a leading provider of Cyber Security Services. At the time I didn't know a whole lot about cyber security but after researching the company and (kind of) figuring out what they did my first thought was, " this is surely something more and more people will need over the coming years!" Luckily I got that job and it led me into an industry that I am still a part of. After a few failed businesses along the way, including a website where you could buy laptops with Bitcoin. Which in hindsight I maybe should of stuck with. But none the less after building my career in the security industry I was able to launch Tanto Security with two co-founders. We started in 2022 and have grown from the 3 of us to 17 today. We are fully self funded and featured at number 41 of the 2024 AFR Fast Starters and number 5 on the CRN Fast50. I always had a desire to start a business, but without that opportunity in 2011, there's a good chance it wouldn't have been as successful as Tanto Security is today. We are fortunate to work with major businesses, including top Super Funds, multiple ASX100 companies and innovative tech firms across the globe. My years at Sense of Security were transformative for my professional network. I am still in regular contact with a number of clients and colleagues from those early days, and we continue to work together in various capacities. The placement at Prograd couldn't have worked out much better for me.
